Online shopping has been gaining popularity for several years, but is it really a good thing? Purchasing clothing, electronics, toys, books are now commonly bought online. See the pros and cons:

- You get much more diverse stock online than in stores. On the same website, it’s possible to find varied articles.
- It’s easier to compare products online than in a physical store
- Several websites such as Amazon or eBay offer a good variety of second-hand products
- It is possible to purchase from overseas for products that may not be available in Canada.
- The online access to reviews from other users.
- You get a good protection of your personal information with platforms such as Paypal or your credit card company.
Cons:
- The shipping period.
- It is difficult to judge products by a simple photo of it.
- The shipping cost may be higher than the single item you are buying.
- The danger of the non-secure website. To make sure a website is safe, check for a key or padlock on the left of the URL. Also check if the URL starts with "https", which means it is secure.
